The UWSP Men’s Hockey Team came into the weekend (5-6-1) on the season to face #1 ranked UW-Eau Claire (10-0-1) in a Home and Home Series. Friday the Pointers hosted their Annual Teddy Bear Toss where they were donated to various places in the community. UW-Eau Claire took the lead in the first period but the Pointers came back in the 2nd and 3rd period to win 4-2 and break UWEC undefeated winning streak. Saturday the UWSP Men’s Hockey hit the road for the 2nd game of the Home and Home series with UW-Eau Claire. At 16.11 in the first period the Pointers scored the first goal of the game and never looked back as they scored again in the 2nd period and then finished the Bluegolds off In the 3rd period with a empty net goal to win 3-0.
Sophomore goaltender Eli Billing made 36 saves to record his first career shutout. The UWSP Men’s Hockey Team returns home after a holiday break on January 10th to face Hamline. Faceoff is set for 7pm at K.B. Willett Arena Stevens Point, WI.
